Class of 2015 votes to make Beyond the Desk its Legacy Project

The Shaker Heights Class of 2015 voted to make Beyond the Desk its legacy project, a distinction that will mean that remaining funds will be transferred for Beyond the Desk scholarships. The total donation amounted to $4,432 with $4,000 of the donation composing the first donation to the fund’s endowment. Because the donation will go into BTD’s endowment, the contribution of the class of 2015 will be more permanent, representing the class’ commitment to leaving the school district a better place than when they began in the school system.

Each year, Shaker Heights’ graduating class chooses what to do with the rest of the money that class council has raised. Frequently, the class council will do additional fundraisers at the end of the year for whatever this chosen charitable purpose might be. Previous donations have included microwaves for the cafeteria and ping pong tables for the senior lounge, both contributions that were very well received by the student body.

Beyond the Desk is tremendously grateful to the Class of 2015 council and all of the class of 2015 for donating and supporting its mission to enrich the lives of more Shaker students, regardless of background and socioeconomic status.

We thank the members of council which included (in alphabetical order) Abby White, Arpit Agrawal, Bess Aronoff, Casey Crowley, Cherie Low, Cherie Lo, Isabel Kalafatis, Lily Abrams, Maeve Cook, Narayan Sundarajan, Phoebe Potiker, Sarah Marek, Shami Mitchell and Walker Edwards. Aulak served as 2015 class president.
