Shaker’s Youth Ending Hunger Spaghetti Dinner proceeds go to Beyond the Desk
Thanks to co-director Mica Jordan’s tireless efforts at Shaker Heights High School to raise awareness and funds for Beyond the Desk, Youth Ending Hunger just held their annual spaghetti dinner for the community. Proceeds from the dinner went to Beyond the Desk scholarships for current Shaker Heights High School students.
Community members, city council members, Shaker Heights teachers, students and staff attended throughout the evening. YEH members cooked the spaghetti and made the salad and served the meal to attendees.
“Youth Ending Hunger members were thrilled to raise money for the Beyond the Desk Foundation because they recognize the importance of community involvement and believe their participation in extracurricular activities have profoundly affected their high school experience,” said Jordan. “We hope a future Beyond the Desk scholarship recipient chooses to impact the community through participation in Youth Ending Hunger Interact Club.”
Jordan served as president of YEH during the 2015-2016 school year, and was happy she could arrange for the spaghetti dinner’s proceeds this year to go to BTD. Donations amounted to over $600, a wonderful gift and a significant contribution to the program. This is more than enough to sponsor at least one student’s scholarship.
